LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.

(by telegraph.—own correspondent.) Auckland, Last Night. His Excellency the Governor opened the new refuge to-day, and spoke most cordially of the late Mr Costley's munificence. A letter has been receivod from Mr Henry Ceorge, in which he states that owing to the prolongation of his Australian tour he will be unable to visit New Zealand. A fire destroyed a four-roomed house at Mount Eden, occupied by Mr William Savage, letter-carrier. The Hinemoa has gone to the Kermadecs. A case of spotted typhus has occurred in Abercrombie-street, the patient has been removed to the hospital.
