THE TE AROHA ELECTORATE.

Ooil Te Aroha correspondent writes as f<>llowsThe candidature of Mr W. b. Allen for the Te Arolui sent is creating a (rf ßa t deal of interest here, but still a strong disinclination to pledge votes at the present time exists. There is no doubt many other candidates will in time declare themselves and address the electors, and many changes not yet toreseen will place before the day arrives when the polling booths will be the centre of attraction. It is expected that the meeting on Tuesday evening will be largely attended, and it is patent that the opinions of a gentleman who has sat some twenty years in the British Parliament will be listened to and receive that consideration they deserve, Those mostly concerned in mining appear to be desirous of inducing the present member for Coromandel to contest this seat, but others consider that the Thames will largely requisition Mr Cadman to accept their votes, and in viow of the fewer conflicting interests in the latter constituency, it would be much easier for n member to satisfy his electors. No doubt Mr Cadman will see it in that light, or at anyrate will not announce himself until after he has addressed his present constituents, the larger portion of which will now be in the Thames electorate. Onr Ohinemuri correspondent writes The general election in rapidly coming to the foro as a favourite topic. Mr Shepherd Allen notifies in the " Hauraki Tribune his intention of addressing the Te Aroha electors shortly. The present local opinion is that should Mr A. J. Cadman stand for the new Te Aroha electorate, he would, so far as Parawai, Block 27, and Ohinemuri are concerned, receive a block vote, but if not then Mr Allen would poll extremely well. Excepting Mr G. V. Stewart, the other names mentioned are not thought much of here.
