The statement that Emin was to lead an expedition in search of ivory;, into the interior, is confirmed. News has reached here that the expedition consisting of about 50 Somali natives under Dr. Pecers and Herr Tiedmann has arrived at Kawarondo. The expedition is said to be in a destitute condition and on the verge of starvation, the natives being forced to resort to plunder in order to obtain sufficient food to keep the party alive. I Berlin, April 7. It is asserted that the Emperor designs to placate France if possible, for the purpose of isolating Russia. It has been arranged that a meeting between Queen Victoria and the Emperor William will take place at Darmstadt on the 20th instant. Chicago, April 8.
