SETTLEMENT OF THE PRIMACY QUESTION.
[by telegraph.—press association.'] Chhistohurch, Last Night. Bishop Suter" had" a conference to-day-with the members of the Standing, Committee and other leading Churchmen. The Dean presided, and read the following telegram from': Bishop 'Hadfield to, .Bishop Harper:—"As soon as you forward to me the Bishop of, ■ Nelson's» agreement with., teems of. my telegram, namely, that he will convene the synod at an early date at Wellington for election of Primate' and confirmation of . Archdeacon Julius' election, I will forward my resignation through -you." j Bishop Suter made a speech; concluding with the following statement which he placed. in .writing: —"Having received from Bishop Havper'ari intimation that the Bishop (if Wellington is wi|ling to resign his position upon the receipt'of that resignation, I shall comply with the application recently made to the bishops of .Ghrishbhurchv , Auckland and Waiupu to convene a special meeting at an early date, probably April 24th> and, as the most central position, at Wellington for the election' of a Primate' and confirmation of Archdeacon Julius'election to the See of Christohurch." The meeting passed a vote of thanks to Bishop Suter for coming to Ohristchurch, for the announcement he had just made, and of sympathy with him in' the difficulty which arose over the Primacy question. :
