(by telegraph.—own correspondent.) Auckland, Last Night. A fire commencing in an unoccudied house in Freemans Bay, destroyed five buildings, including Grant's blacking manufactory. The latter was wholly uninsured. The body of Captain Daniells, who was drowned near the'Manukau heads, has been recovered. ' The Auckland Racine; Club's second day's races had aorain to be postponed on account of the weather till to-morrow. Business was brisk on exchange to-day, notwithstanding the depressing state ot the weather. During the day New Alburnias changed hands at 4s 9d and 5s 3d ; when market closed there were buyers for New Zealand Insurance at fiss 6d ; Land Mortgage, 14s; Tanpiri Coal Extended, 225; also inquiries for shares in no lass than seven mines, 7s being offered for Try Flukes; 5a 3d for New Alburnias ; and 5s 9d for New Moanatairis.
