WAITOA ROAD BOARD

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above board was held in the Nottingham Castle Hotel, Morrinsville, on Saturday last. Present: Messrs W. P. Chepmell (in'the chair), J. Horrell and J. Turnbull. Among; the correspondence was a letter receWed from the Ohinemuri County clerk, reporting that the Ohiuemuri County Council will gladly co-operate with the Waitoa Road Board in the matter of the road to the Pinko native settlement, and that they have instructed the foreman of works to consult with the board's engineer as soon as he on spare the time. The board authorised tho engineer to go to Faeroa and confur with the Ohinemuri County chairman, &c., in the matter of the said road.—The clerk was instructed to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lmds and ask if the right to take land for a road through 3458, Maungateparu, and through the Native lands in the north west corner of the Pinko County, being part of Block XIII, Waitoa survey district, had expired. The chairman was authorised to appoint tho surveyor to do the survey, and he was also authorised to do all that is necessary to start the survey after the engineer's conference with the Ohinemuri;County Council.—The engineer reported that he had finished the surrey of the road through the block of Crown Lukl from the Te Mi mi road to join tho Tauhae road, a distanca of three miles.—Tenders are to be called for putting in a set of pipes, forming, about eighteen chains of swamp, and bridging a Maori crossing on the Tauhae road. It is reported that when the said work is dono the road will be passable for driving sheep, &c., froir. Morrinsville to Taupiri.—The following tenders were received for the contract on the Te Miini road :—P. Dillon, £18 ; M. Phelan (accepted), £10 lis fid; 0. M::Cabe, £11 I!R—The Board requested the collector to take proceedings for the recovery of all unpaid rates. — Accounts amounting to £01 5s 2d were passed for payment.
