The eighth annual report of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company states that after allowing 5 per cent on the value of the works for depreciation there is a credit balance of £2,156 17s 2d. Of this £2,000 is proposed to be expended in paying a 6 per cent, dividend, and the balance carried forward. Two hundred and thirty-two thousand seven hundred and thirty-six sheep and lambs aud one hundred and sixty-two cattle have beeu killed at Belfast during the year. Jaue Lee and F. Jones, accused last week of cruelty at Southbridge, were sentenced to one month's hard labour today. DUNEDIN, Last Night. At the City Court, Barrett for attempting murder was remanded. The proseis still in a serious condition, suffering from paralysis and probably a fracturc of the skull.
