That the conference ex presses sympathy with the employees, and that any branch may use its own discretion in sending assistance to employees. (2). That the minimum stan-. dard wage per day for skilled employees on the New Zealand Railway be nine shillings, on West Coast 10s. ' GISBORNE, Last Night. The statement of direct exports to outside the colony from Gishorne during the past six months, shows the total value to be £145,454, against £109,000 for the whole of the previous year. The value of the wool exported was £128,140, fiwu meat £13,660, tallow £1,131, horses £259, maize £816. There has also been a large export of butter and cheese, but as it goes to other towns thence the value caunot be ascertained. A large quantity of wool also goes through other channels than by direct export. During the six Months"for which the ijgures are given, most of the export trade of the place has takeu place, but there will yet he a largo export of grass seed, cheese aud meat. NAPIER, Last Night. At about half-past 10 o'clock yesterday morning John Garry dropped dead. Ho had placed a piece of iron on an anvil, and without any warning, except two slight gasps, he fell dead. Dr. luuia was sent for, and attended promptly, but his services were not of any avail, life being extinct. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. The steamer Invercargill leaves tomorrow for Preservation Inlet with passengers from here and Duncdiu, the recent gold discoveries having ex;ited interest in the locality. A number of diggers with provisions and materials have booked for both places. It is understood that several water-races havo been already applied for.
