KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meetinsr of this board svbz held > at the WJaikato County Council; , Chambers,at 2.30 rp.m. .yesterday. There were present: Messrs Primrose (chairman), White, Edmonds, andCoates. MrSandes, Engineer, was also in attendance. The minutes of the list meeting were read and confirmed. Mangawhaka Road.—The chairman reported that he had visited this road, and stated that he found tho road was a peat one, which at this time he could walk over, but it would be impassable in winter. The ■ whole country was on fire round the road, but the people thought that it would do the road Rood. He had heard that there_ was going to be some changes made in drainage in this part, and he had told the settlers that no-immediate action would be .taken;; The chairman's action was approved of and consideration of the matter was deferred. River Bank.—The engineer reported that with Mr White he had inspected the river , .road, atTaupiri, on th t e.,loth January, ;and ' .Ka-fouiid that the river' had 'encroached hnj to the Great South road in several placos, at one place 15 feet. It would be ; necessary to fence off the road for 18 or'2o chains, to prevent the cattle getting down to the river, and .then plant willows, laying would be the Best method toieijure rapid growth,and foliage. Jit would! alsol bo necessary ia two places to do some sheet piling to save the willows while they grow. The engineer was instructed tq call for tenders, for these works,, with the 'exception.' of the sliest piling, which it was thought woald be ton expensive. Gkicy's Road. —On the recommendation of the engineer, he was authorised to cill for tenders for repairs to this road, provided s Mr Cox would subsidise the work to the oxtent of £:> in cash. Smith's Roaw—The engineer was instructed to call for tenders for work at Smith's road, Hinton's Gully, to be in by the 22nd inst. Funds. —Tho Clerk reported that there wero £170 of rates yet to come in, but that £ho iboird, was at present £RQ 13s 5d in "debt". Bridges.—The chairman reported that the bridges near Taupiri were in a bad state for want of painting, and the engineer was instructed to call for tenders, to be in by , Saturday,v22ud„ for,.painting the Manga? * frhara- atidi N,ol; 15 agd No. 2 Kotflokprau; ¥Bridges;ia))oi!i;iou!y|j t i WoßK.silt was 'decidedtto and team for a fortnight, to gravel the Hukunui-Piako road, in consideration of the .heavy traffic. a ?Paymknts.—The'following accounts were passed for paymentE. Johnson, £7 Is ; M. Kiley, £5 4s 2d ; salaries, 6s 5d ; travelling expenses, 15s; Coulthard, Bros., £3 13s 9d ; Owen and Churches, £7 Lou ; engineer, £2 18s. , This was all the business.
