ANOTHER FLAX MILL BURNT.
Mr Thornton Walkkr'h flax mill at Mangahoe was destroyed by fire yesterday. About 1.30 p.m. the men had had lunch and were just about to resume work, when they noticed fire in tho scutching room. They immediately dragged the engine out and then paid attention to the belting and fibre rooms, both of which they succeeded in saving. In a few minutes the other buildings wero consumed. Tho accident will throw about 30 men and boys out of employment, but fortunately not for long, for Mr Walker at once telegraphed for fresh material and hopes to have a new mill erected and at work early next week. The damage is estimated at about £50, there is no insurance.
