RIFLE COMPETITIONS.

A competition anions members of the Hamilton Light Infantry for the belt presented by the public of Hamilton, medals presented by Col. Shepherd and Mr Jus. Harker and a large number of other prizes, was held at the range, Hamilton East, yesterday. The ranges were 200, 400, and 500 yards, with five shots! at each distance. During the competition the utmost good prevailed, and the opinion of all was that the best man won. Tho weather was very unfavourable, there boing strong gusty wind and rain. The rifle match between six civilians and an equal number of members of the Hamilton Lisjht Infantry was fired at the butt-, Hamilton East, yesterday afternoon, and, as was expected, resulted in a win for thLight Infantry by 22 points. The civilians, although all old volunteers, were handicapped by the fact that they hai not fired a shot for some years, while their opponents had just conclude! firinpt a Company match.
