Since then a good deal of work has been done on the property in which the deposit exists in opening up and further developing the extent of the deposit. A drive of considerable length has been put in and the character of the ground continues m"St enc itiraging. In addition to thia mot important discovery has been made in producing a flux in connection with this ore when treated with the titanic iron sand in such unlimited quantities on the West Coast, that will at once revolutionise the treatment of tins valuable and unlimited product. Mr Minnett, one of the partners in the undertaking, arrived in Hamilton on Saturday, and exhibited a sample of the auialgam, which he stated was just in that condition suitable for smelting. Fiom this it appears to be evident, that with some additional treatment known now to the proprietor!), a combination of the iron ore at Huntly and the West Coast iron sand, lias been discovered, which will be the means ol establishing an industry, the importance of which cannot in any way at present be estimated.
