Two coast return* arc just in, giving Mr Arthur a majority (if One return is yet tn cume, but the numbers arc. small, and cannot affect the result. Gisrokne, Monday. The whole of the returns of the election for the East Coast district are now in, and are as follows: —Arthur, 070 ! Keen, (illl. Auckland, Last Night. The final returns show that Mr Arthur defeated Mr Rees in the contest for the East Coast seat by - r d votes.
