PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.

A jieetiM! of the above board was held at the Pukeiiinu School-room on Monday last, December 9th. Present: Mr E. Lake (chairman) Messrs J. Anderson, J. Scott, and 11. Kusabs. CoKUKsroNDENCE.— A letter was read from Messrs Kusaks and Sons, requesting permission to cut and remove some trees growing on the line of road between lots 203 and 200, Ngaroto.—This matter was left with the chairman to arrange. Watson's Biudge.—Messrs Lake and Kusabs reported that they had inspected the site.—Resolved that Mr Lake be empowered to get the necessary work done; Mr Lake ottering to supervise the same. Cambridge West Reserve. —Mr E. Lake reported that he had inspected the Cambridge West Reserve, but as there might be some difficulties iu getting them vested iu the Board, he thought the simplest way would be to apply to the Crown Lands Board to get a portion of Cambridge West township re-classifiod as suburban land.—lt was decided to adopt this couse. Tenders.—The following tenders were received for Gubbiu's swamp road Thos. Cowley, fascining 14s per chain, claying 8d per yard ; Kennedy, fascining 20s, claying lOd ; Norrish, fascining ISs, claying 7id ; McCallum, (accepted) fascining Us, claying (id.—The work is to be completed by tha 25th March next.—Mr Anderson stated that as authorised at last meeting, tenders had been received and opened for forming Wordsworth-street, viz : Giles and Fetcher, 5s per chain ; Wm. Harris (accepted) -Is lid. Cutting at Potteuton's Hill, —Mr Anderson was empowered to get the necessary work done. Pukekura Redoubt Road —Mr Anderson said that in conjunction with Mr W. Vosper they had viewed the place, and recommended that about 20 chains should be reformed and that about 0 or S chains on the hilly parts should be gravelled,—lt was resolved that tenders should be called for the above work, Mr Anderson arranging to meet contractors at Mr Rogan's gate on Wodnesday, the 18th inst. at 10 a.m. Tenders to be sent in to the Clerk by Saturday, 21st inst.

Eurze Crowing on Road. —The Clerk was requeited to furnish tho names of owners and absentees ot allotments upon which furzo was growing by next meeting. —It was also resolved that the Chairman be empowered when in Auckland to get a written legal opinion from a solicitor on some of the clauses of the Public Works Amendment Act, ISS9, re furze, &c., so as to enable the Board to take action if a favourable opinion was given upon this question. Gravel Reserve. —The secretary was requested to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands asking that Lot 175, 12 acres 6 roods, Pukekura, be vested in the trustees of tho Pukekura district as a gravel reserve. Nohmsh's Road.—The Chairman was authorised to get some necessary repairs done on this I'oad. Permission to Cut Flax.—The Chairman said he had received a letter from Mr E. Hicks, requesting permission to cut some flax on the road adjoining his property. This matter was left in the Chairman's hands to settle. Road Deviation.—The Chairman said he had made arrangements with Mr Sandes on satisfactory terms re surveying, &c., of a road deviation near Watson's bridge. The next meeting of the Board will be held on Monday, January Ctli, IS9O.
