(by telegraph.—frkss association.) MARTON, Friday. Joseph- Monteith and v/ife were charged yesterday at Bulls with receiving the silver stolen from the Bank of New Zealand a year ago, and were remanded for a week. Finlay the silver thief and hie wife gave evidence implicating the two prisoners. It was deposed by Finlay that when committed for trial at Marton he found an opportunity to slip into his wife's hand a paper informing her where the silver was hid and she and the female prisoner removed it to Monteith's section and the prisoner used it. When he was discharged he asked for his share and not getting it laid the information. PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday. A man named William Williams was killed on the Gorge railway works yesterday by a large rock falling on him while tunnelling. His spine was brokeu and death was almost instantaneous. DUNEDIN, Friday. The body of Donald McOrae was picked up this morning in the harbour near the Rattray-street wharf. Deceased, who was formerly in one of the banks, had lately been selling tea on commission, was unmarried, and was seen passing down to the wharf yesterday.
