LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.
(by tklegraph.—own corkkspondknt). Auckland, Friday. Subscriptions are coming in freely for the Jubilee celebratiou. Several parents wore dealt with at the Police Court to-day under the compulsory clause of the Education Act. A capital representative collection of mining exhibits for Dunedin were on view at the Chamber of Commerce to-day. Six are from the Champion mine, Te Aruha. A lad named Hardwick fell overboard from a timber scow at Mangawai, and was drowned notwithstanding the gallant attempt by the cook of the scow to rescue him. At the dog show to-day there were 180 entries, St Bernards and Spaniels preponderating ; also one or two tine bull dogs although their heads are not very inviting to look upon. The collies on exhibition are fine specimens.
