FIRE AT PARIHAKA.

[BY TELEfilUl'll. —I'ttESX ASSOCIATION]. New Plymouth, Monday. IIKi'ORTS from Parihaka state that (in Wednesday last a tire broke out in the settlement,' which threatened to burn tho natives out. Some Wangnnui natives living on tlio south side of the Waitotara river, which rims through the settlement, set fire In an old head tree close to the whares. The tree" fell, and the wind changing shortly alter, drove the tire into the settlement. Natives from all quarters came to their assistance, but it took till Thursday night to keep tho fire in check, and to extinguish the lire. Several whares were destroyed, but, owing to the exertions of the natives, tiic village was saved.
