TE AWAMUTU MUSICAL SOCIETY.
Tun musical society which we started some months ago under such favourable auspices, for nearly all the musical people fur miles around have joined it, are ibonfc to give their first performance on Thursday evenins. They hnve been practising most assiduously, and the various singers have been so thoroughly instructed in their parts that there can be no doubt of tliß excellence of the performance. The cantata "The Wreck of the Hesperus' , will b3 performed, there will also h« several solos by leading singers. Mrs Kilgour of the Thames was expected to si up, but the unfortunate acci dent which she met with in Cambridge may prevent her being present. It is to be sincerely hoped that she will experience no ill effects, for her reputation asau accomplished singer is not merely a Xew Zealand, but. an Australasian one. Practice* have been hold in the hall twice weekly, and every preparation made for the eventful evening, so lh.it the public: may expect to have a batter, performance than could possibly be had at an ordinary concert, however gond the singers may be. The prices of admission are low, front seats :2s, back seats Is, thus bringing the tickets within the reach of all.
