(BY TELEGRAPH.—L'RKSS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The directors of the Kaiapoi Wooollen Factory have refused the proposal of the Tailors' Union, that none but Union hands be employed in the factory, and a strike is threatened. The entries for the Canterbury Metropolitan. Show number 1,450, as against HOT in 18S7, and 1,429 in ISSB.~ The decrease is due to siieep owners who protest against exhibiting against housed and clothed merino sheep. There are 313 less entries in that class this year. DUNE DIN, Friday. At Lawrence, Simpson and Hart, brewers, were fined £100 for breach of the Beer Duty Act.
