VERDICT OF MAN SLAUGHTER.

The Crown prosecutor said no doubt Turanga's party wore wrong: in going on tho land and behaving as they did, hut that was no provocation for such a murderous attack. Natives could not be allowed t;i take the law in their own hands. The jury returned at 2.30 with * verdict of manslaughter and recommended the prisoner to mercy. Tho Chief Justice passed a sentence of ten years' penal servitude.
