WAITOA ROAD BOARD.

• The ordinary meeting of the Waitoa Road ; Board took place in the Nottingham Castle i Hotel. Morrinsville, last Saturday. Present: Messrs W. I'. Chepnioll (in the chair), K. W. Hannier, J. Horrell and <1. TurnI bull. CiiAuniAu'iS Hki'out. — The Chairman i gave a verba! report of the state of the roads inspected by Messrs Hannier, Tnrnbull, himself and the. Engineer, on tho uth inst. The Board found after mature deliberation that with the funds available it would bo , impossible to undertake all the works applied for. Road Wohks. —It was decided to go on with works on the Stanley and cemetery road, and on Taylor's road, for which tenders will be called. It was decided also to get the ti-tree cut on the road near Miki kleson's place, and on part o( the Waiorongomai road. Encuoaching Fences.—lt having been found that the roads iu several places are being encroached ou with fences, it was decided to hike steps to have all fences removed oil' the roads. Native Kates.—The Board decided to allocate tho native lands rates for the current year, amounting to £30 Us Id, towards opening up the road to the Piako Native Settlement. The natives are anxious to have the road made, and have promised subscriptions amounting to £20. Other subscriptions, amounting to £17, are promised. The Piako County Council has also allocated the native lands rates to the same object, so it is considered these sums will go a long way to open up the road to the boundary of tho Waitoa Road District, and it is confidently believed that the Ohinemuri County Council will do the part of the road within the Ohinemuri County. Valuation Roli,.—A memo, was received from the Property-tax Commisioner, requeuing a number of alterations tube made iu the valuation roll. Audit.—A letter was received from the Audit Office, requesting payment of £110s, beitig the cost of auditing the Board'* accounts for the year ending the 31st March, 1889. Payments.—Accounts, amounting to £20 10s G'd, were passed for payment. I
