(by TELEGRAPH.— FHIiSS ASSOCIATION). \Vkujsc. ton, Wed nesday. Tub Hon. Mr Hislop who is suffering from rheumatism will probably leave on Monday or Tuesday for the Kotorua hoc springs. Tho Fronch warship Laone, commander Porchaut, arrived to-day from Noumea. The object of her visit to New Zealand waters was for the purpose of being present at the opening of the Exhibition, her officers being under the impression that it took place on November Ist. As however, tho opening data is fixed a month hence it is expected tho Laone will remain here for a week and then return to Noumea. Oapt. Russel, Defence Minister paid an official visit to the warship this afternoon. Her officers state that H. M.S. Rapid left Noumea for Sydney on the 17th instant, and H. M.S. Swinger was at Noumea when the Laone left. Major-General Edwards is expected to return hero on November S. Sailed : the steamer Balmoral Castle for London with ,i cargo of frozen moat, shipped at Brisbane. Steamer Botlr.vell Castle left Calcutta for Wellington yesterday.
