THE HAMILTON BATHS.
TO THK EDITOR Sin,—ls it not high tune soma steps were taken to appoint a caretaker for our baths ? Their erection cost the ratepayers a pretty considerable sum, and it is really too bad that they should be rendered unfit for use and allowed to go to ruin for want of attention on the part of tlioso whoso duty it is to look aftor them. A few days ago they were in a most disgraceful state and tho thanks of the community are due to the thoughtful few who cleansed them. But as the baths are frequented by all the young larrikins in the place, and as there seeins to be some mysterious affinity between larrikinisni and filth, unless a caretaker is at once appointed, the baths will speedily be unapproachable by anyone possessing a nose. A stronger argument, however, in favour of some competent person having charge of the baths is that until this is done our wives, sisters and daughters— many of whom are complaining loudly at the apathy of the Borough Council—aro debarred from using them. Trusting that this letter may have the effect of rousing onr sleepy councillors to a ssnse of their responsibility in this matter. —I am, itc. Buuuess.
