SENSATIONAL METHODS OF TRAVELLING.
The crazo for going , io the Paris Exhibition in pome eccentric, or original, or wholly abnormal manner i* now assuming , an epidemir, form. The publicity (riven to tho proceedings of tho Viennese J elm who " cubbed it " to the French capital, of the Hungarian officer who rode there on his regimental charger, of the Spanish nobleman a.id his wife who have just posted to Paris from Madrid, of tho two German students who " biked" it on their safety "machines," of the enthusiastic young Polish landowner who has walked all the way, waving assorted flags !'.') route, and of the many other entorprising seekers after notoriety who have so far reached tho Champ de Maw, has naturally induced many other odd people to try and beat the existing record, and as a result preliminary details have already appeared which inform U3 that more original tourists are advancing on Paris from all points of the compass. These include a Russian Mmtjik from Odessa, who is wheeling his wife in a barrow; a wily Egyptian, who started last Tuesday week on a camel from Damascus, and has just been heard of at Adrianople ; an Arab fttldi- or dervish, who is slowly approaching his goal on all fours ; and a volatile native of Pisa, who is well on his way to the gay Lutetia on a pair of particularly lofty stilts. There is also a "fasting man" hailing from Buda-Pesth, who is already overdue ; whilst a party of gay Tyrolese, who are yodelling and zithering their way from their native valley', were up before the local authorities at Munich a few days ago for brawling in the public streets. Clearly the individual who wishes to do the Paris Exhibition in a really sensational manner will ere long have only one mode left open to him. He will have to arrive via- the top of the Eiffel Tower from a parachute.
