LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.

(by TELEGRAPH.—OWN" CORRESPONDENT). Auckland, Friday. At the Supreme Court to-diy, the Judge settled the position of conti ibutors in the liquidation of the Waikato Coal and Shipping Company. Mr Bayley, Ciiief Inspector of the Auckland district, reports that the infected sheep at Miranda, near the Thames, are now free from scab, and he is under the impression that this disease is now thoroughly eradicated in this district. A largely-attended meeting of wharf labourers and lumpers was held last evening for the purpose of considering the formation of a Wharf Labourers' Union. Nothing definite was done, but over one hundred men gave in their names as members. The meeting was unanimously in favour of forming a union for mutual protection against employers.
