CONCERT AT TAUPIRI.

A coscKar and entertainment was hold liere on FiitLiy, October 4fch, in aid of Mr George Jackson, who has been an invalid for a considerable Lime. Tho concert was a decided success, and ladies and gentlomon rolled up from far and near. Tho proceeds w.nro far beyond the expectation of all, and thn valuable services of Mr G. F. Mellars, junr., who successfully got tho concert up, being assisted by Messrs W. J. ttcfw/ield, E. 15. Cox, and other leading musical amateurs, were amply rewarded. Mr K h. Cox occupied the chair, and tho following programme w.-\s gone th«v>u"li:—Overture, "Hans the Boatman Wiltz," by T. H. White (violin), G. F. Mellars, junr. (cornet), and Miss White (piaiio|; song, "Albert Hall." Mr H. Waring: song, "Kathleen," Miss White; song, " Plymouth Sounds," Mr K. 14. Cox ; song, "New Zealand by tho Sea," Air Wliltehouse, who is a visitor from Hamilton ; instrumental duct, Misses White and Cox; song, " To-nionw," Miss Lovell, Mr K. lUlpli playing the accompaniment, the execution of both being loudly applauded, liaritone solo by Master Hutt, loudly :ip- ! phiuded ; song, " The Village BlacUiuith," 1 iLr \i.
