HAMILTON ROAD BOARD.

Tub ordinary nwnthly meeting of this Board was held on Saturday last. Iresent : Messrs Jones (chairman), Maunder, Kxelby, Livingstone and Qualtrough. Koaii at Pukkte. —Mr O'Brien wrote to the Board, re forming the road to his property. Held over till next meeting. Storks' Busk Contract, The Clerk was instructed to notify the contractors to begin work at Stokes' bush drain before Ist November next. Hosi'iTATi. —It was resolved that the Clerk write to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Hoard in re proposed increase of salaries to its officers, and respectfully suggest to that Board the desirability of calling for fresh applications for surgeon and secretary on the same terms as at present, before deciding on an increase of expenditure, but in the event of not procuring suitable officers at the present rates, then vote the increased amount. This, in the opinion of the Board, would be more in accordance with the wishes of the residents in the district, who decidedly object to any unnecessary increase of expenditure of the Hospital Board's funds, which would be probably followed by a further increase of taxation on the already over-burdened ratepayers.
