THE TAUPIRI ROAD.

TO THE EDITOR. giH —In your issue of the 2(ith inst. appeared a notice from the Kirilariroa Iload Board, calling for tenders for the maintenance of the main road from Hukanm to Tamahere. I would usk the Board, now is it that the portion of main road between Hukanui and Taupiri, and also that portion of the Great South Road between Taupiri and Ngaruawahia, have been excluded from this contract for maintenance. Judging from the past actions of the Board, I cannot avoid coming to the conclusion that were this end of the district only fortunate enough to include the chairman and one or two other inlluential members of the Board amongst its residents, there would be no necessity to make the foregoing inquiry. The road between Ngaruawahia and iaupiri is now, and has been all through the past winter, in a most disgraceful state; and when it becomes all but impassable no doubt the annual programme will be carried out of sending a surfaceman from Hamilton, who spends two days in travelling, and one in throwing loose earth into the deepest ruts. Did the Board ignore us altogether, we should not have so much reason to complain. But, no! When the time conies round for the levying of a rate we are then discovered to be a portion of the Ivinkiriroa Road District.—l am, &c., Faih Pj.av. Ngaruawahia, 3rd September.
