WHATAWHATA.
Town- Ar.r.OTMK.\TS.—We had a vary welcome visit on Monday last from Mr K. Fdgecumbe, Government Surveyor, wlm came for the purpose of knocking the innumerable and useless township allotments into convenient sized blocks of from live to eleven acres each, with the view of having them sold by auction at an early date. That this is an important and progressive step for our district no one can question, and if the upset price is fixed at a inoderatP r;it\ so as not to place the land beyond the reach of small settlers, it will bo the means of bringing into the district an incronsed population of the right class. Willi regard to the different blocks, Mr Ldgecmn'ie has arranged them so as to have one or more good frontages to each. The land ii of the very finest quality, suitable for either ordinary cropping or fruit-growing ; and in addition t'> this there will be a Imfer factory in full swing within a trifling distune*, of them. There are great advai-t iges to b ma tide settlers, and your correspondent will be glad to assist anyone desiring information as to the different lots, or they em obtain full particulars by applying to that most nulling public nlfieer, Mr I''. Ivlgeciiiribe.
