(by electric telegraph.— coryrigiit.) Sydney, September S. Tilli bodies of all the men entombed in the Glebe Pit have been recovered. By the side of one was a tin with the words scratched on it, " Died from starvation after living seven days." September 9. Arrived : American barque, Hesper, from Puget Sound. She reports that tho barque, Garston, bound from Sydney to San Francisco, has been wrecked at Starbrick Island. The chief ofliccr and twenty of the crew readied Humphrey's Islaud. The Captain of the Hcspcr oilered to bring 10 of the men oil to Sydney, and waited for fourteen hours for that purpose, but the men apparently decided not to separate. The Captain ami nine of the crew are missing. William Dobcll and two boys have been murdered by uatives at Solomon Islands. Dobell's brother was murdered recently. The funeral of the late Mr Francis Ormond, M.L.C., took placc yesterday. There was an immense cortege. The Government have received a definite proposal from the Canadian Pacific Company for a mail service from Vancouver, but. the details are not allowed to be made known. The proposal will shortly be discussed by the Cabinet. The action of New Zealand with regard to the renewal of the San Fraucisco contract is watched with 3ome interest, The renewal by Now South Wales is generally approved iu commercial circles.
