Twenty-four members of Chinese secret societies have been arrested ; six were sentenced to death, eleven to be flogged, and in the remaining cases sentences were not passed. Operations against rebels in Tonquin aro progressing steadily and successfully. In a recent conflict the French troops killed IS rebels.
