MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE.
«. (BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COKRE.SI'ONPEXT.) C.uiIiHIDGK, Wednesday. A MAX named James Linnet, railway porter of Cambridge, has disappeared in a most mysterous manner. He was last seen in Duke-street, about II p.m., on Tuesday evening, and ho then appeared to be slightly under tho influence of liquor. He was not missed until about the time tho train should leavo the station yesterday morning, when, as ho did not torn up, the stationmaater scut round to his lodgings and found he had not been at homo during the night. Great inconvenience was caused by his absence, as he was wanted to go to Ruakura with the train and work the jigger back with the mails on board. One of the platelayers was put on in his place, and enquiries wore at once made as to his whereabouts, but 110 trace of him could bo found since the- above stated time. He is a rather tall, gray-whiskered man, upwards of fifty years of age, and is believed to ho single. No cause can be assigned for his disappearance, and it is feared that he must ha-u lost his way and fallen into tho Waikato River,
