TE AROHA
Another Robbkuy.— It would appear tlmt business in this line at Te Aroha is not to be allowed to languish, whatever else may fail. Another depredation took place either (in Friday or Saturday, from the premises of Messrs Uradley and Co., coach proprietors, consisting of three sacks of oats and a cheese, valued in all about _t'3 los. The thief has not yet been found. Yisitoiw.— Aimngst the notabilities here at present are three representatives of the Hanlc of New Zealand, viz., Messrs Murray, Hume and Rhodes. It is to lie hoped their mission here in such a body is to slacken the financial rope .a bit, so as to keep out oppression, which is the order of the day from the. pulpit to the press. Fr.AX InijUSTHY.— Notwithstanding that the roofs of three buildings at Mr Coulthard's flax mill were blown away by the recent storm, work was resumed early in the week. From Mr Adams' mill fifty balis were sent to Auckland last week, whilst about twenty acres of ground are eivered with the material drying. At Fiith and (ireenway's work is going forward briskly. It is said that Mr von Stnnner has dispensed with the services of several ynunpr follows at liU iviill near the Gordon settlement, ami is now employing in their stead Mauri labour. Thr Lath HTOtnr.—The effects of the great gain has left the appearance of Te Aroha somewhat disreput ible. To say nothing of the houses and roofs which were swept down, and the general wreckage of outbuildings,—fences, broken glass, timber, &c., lay strewn about in all rjuartors, and it will tiko some time aiid very considerable expense to restoro Te Aroha to its former state of neatness and order.
