TYPHOID IN WELLINGTON.

[by telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Friday. Captain I'agk, of the tin brigade, died of typhoid fevor lato last night. Ho was 4ti .years of age, and was once in the London Fire Brigade, and had been Captain hero about three years. An inspection of trovermtieiit buildings discloses the dangerous sanitary defects. The City Council have resolved on drastic sanitary reform. Iho Mayor made some strong- remarks at the Council meeting last night cm the *tato ot the slaughter houses near the city. Ho said inaat coming from them was not lit for human consumption. One suggestion1 is that the new practice of exposing rubbish bins on the footpaths is responsible for tho outbreak, while some people think tho fumes from tho destructor s chimney have something to do with it.
