MiiUiOl'RXf!, August 1. llEFKKiirxu to the Budget, the Argus says: — "We emphasise our desire for reciprocity with our neighbours by imposing a duty on eggs, which will hit Adelaide, and a tax on fruits, which Will hit Tasmaniau growers, while we raise the duty on oats which is a blow nt New Zealand." The Argus supports Mr Gillies' statement that the present duty on wlu-at does not irritate the sister colonies, because they do not look to Victoria for a market, as must ultimately be the case with oats.
