Cambridge Road Board.
The above Board met at Hewi'f.s Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday at 2.00 p.m. Present: Messrs M. H. Pickering (volei h> tho cha>r), 11. J. Paton, J. Forrest and H. J. Kallendar.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly confirmed. Victoria Road. —Mr Kallendar reported that he had had two bridges on tho above road done away with ; p : p.:s had been put and tho ground filled in.—Mr Forrest said the road needed repairing' as there were some, bad holes in it. -On the motion of Mr Pickering, seconded by .Mr Forrest, Mr Kallendar was authorised to put a man on when necessary.—Tho Clrik reported that tho Tamahere Road Bond had not waited to hear from him, but had repaired their end of tho road as soon as the matter appeared in Thk Waikato TIMKS.
No. 1 Station Road.—Tim gravel pit on this road has been filled in, but the other repairs—chiefly letting the water off — have not yet been undertaken. Rate.—lt was resolved to strike a rate of a }d in the £. The Main Road.—Mr Pickering stated that the Tamahere end of the road had been repaired.—Mr Forrest said the hol.M at the Cambridge end had not been filled it; he rinisf hunt the surfaceman >ip again. Thk Nakkows Bridge.— The Clerk said the Tamahere Board had requested him to ask the Board to put a wire on tho present post and rail fence at either end of the above bridge, as sheep could now get through, and were injuring the embankments.—Mr Pickering was deputed to see to its being done, RBnisTEHiNfi Land.—A circular from Mr Thome, of Auckland, similar to the one received by the Taotaoroa Board, inentioied above, was received, but the B.iard declined to entertain the proposals.
The Balance-sheet.—The. AnditorGoneral having forwarded the annual balance-sheet, it was read. The receipts were £.">7o 13s 4d, and Ihe exponilitr.ru fill? 5s Bd.—The Clerk said he should not advertise the balance-sheet, as the month of June, in which it should have been done, had passed. If lie was wrong it was the Audit Department's fault. He stated that a, note was appended to the balance-sheet, calling attention to the fact that the account for auditing had not yet been paid.—The members intimated that that they did not intend paying it, unless compelled. Finance. —The credit balance at the b.-.nk at date was £2\jr> 15s 2rj.
The Fkkxch Pahs.—Mr Noil Dougherty wrote that lie had no objection t , ) the propesed deviation of the road leading to the French Pass, if he was not put to any expense.—Mr Kallondar was deputed to explain the m.itter to Capt. Uai'.i'-y, and report at the next meeting. Fhxcourt-Maunhakawa Road. —Mr Kallondar stated that two bridges on this road could bo dispensed with if drain pipes were put in, as the- ground was almost dry. —H« was instructed to get the work done.
