Tnu ordinary monthly meeting of the nbove Board was held at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday, at II a.m. Present: Messrs H. J. Kallendcr (chairman), r-T. J. Turner, C. M. and H. R. Brunskill. Tho minutes of the previous meeting worn read and confirmed. Finance.—Tho balance to the credit of tho Bunrd at the bank is £2-13 4s ; £150 being at fixed deposit, which leaves £93 4s to meet the year's expenses. Bkookside Buidgk. — The Chairman stated the repairs had not yet been done to the above bridge, the water still being high. The Bai.ancb buret at Last.—The clerk had received the balance-sheet for the year ending March 31st., from the Auditor General, duly certified to as beinsr correct. The receipts for the year were £131 10s 8d ; and the expenditure £10!) 2s 2d. It was countersigned by the chairman.—The Clerk said they had not complied with the law, in consequonce of the dilaturiness of tho Audit Department who should have returned it in time for it to be read at the June meeting, The amount duo on the roads and bridges construction loan is £210 -Is.

A Ciiaxoe Koii run Bkttkii.— Mr C. M. Brunskill stated that very probably the. Board would receivo a cheque for about £21 this year, from the Piako County Council. The members were a warp, the County Council had been in debt for a number of years, but he was happy to say it had at lust been liquidated, and a new system was about to bo inautrarated. Under the old system, tho balance of the county rates, after paying expenses of management, Charitable Aid, etc., went toivards paying olf the debt; but now that the debt had been extinguished, tho surplus remaining after paying expenses would bo allocated to tho ridings proportionately to the amount of rates paid. Taotaoroa paid the smallest amount, and consequently would rooiive tho smallest bonus; and To Aroh.i paying the largest, for the. guldfiolds revenue would rank tho samn as rates, would therefore receive the bipgist sum. This arrancfeniert had not yet bion p-.issed by tho County Council, lint was the suggestion of a committee, consisting of tho Chairman, Cr. Horrell and himself, who had been appointed to prepare a financial statement for the forthcoming year, and it would lie submitted for approval at the next meeting. The members of the Board expressed themselves Rratitiarl at the altered prospeet. Skm.ing Land i'oh Ratks.-—Mr W. Thome, solicitor of Auckland, forwarded a circular for the approval of the Board, which sucgested a number of alterations in the laws for rngiMtering lands.—Tho Clerksaid if the suggestions wero carried out it would mike the law most intricate. This was evidently the outcome) of some land being wrongfully sold for rates that had belonged to the late Mr Chamberlain. The alterations, if adopted, would pro\o expensive, as registrars would require fees, and he thought the whole thing would prove impracticable. He had written on behalf of the Kirikiriroa and Tamahere Road Boards, declining to comply with tho requests.—Mr Turner thought the Government ought to give tho information required. If a man registered his land, that should protect him from it being sold wrongfully.— The Clerk said tho only ones who were usually tripped up were those who delayed rcKisterinir land they had bought, hoping to s;ll it in the meantime. A periodical return of all changes would do what was required.—The Board thought tho law was already hedged round with sufficient intricate difficulties, and the clerk was instructed to write to Mr Thome to that effect:.

Pi:kbtutu.—Mr C. M. Brunskill said the repairs to Iho above road were more extensive than he hud thought would be required, and had cost moro than had boon allowed. The expenditure, £7 Gs, was approved of. BiUDcn'.vrat Uoai"». -■ Mr C. M. Brunsltill stated that No. 2 bridge, on the Bj idgwator rnad, had been seriously damaged by the floods, the wing having been washed away. When he bec.mie aware of tho damage he at once sent for the Chairman and Mr Seddon, and when they arrived it was thought host to put bags, filled wilh earth, in place of timber to protect the bridfo. It was a most difficult job, as they harf to alier the bed of the creek, and when it was half done more rain came and did fresh damage. However, he thought the woik w.«uld stand if willows were planted in the bank. It had cost £7 12s (id, but if they lia* used timbei he thought it would have cost £25. Cambisiikjk Oxfoud Road.—Tim Chairman said the heavy rains had washed great triilliiw in I he Cambridge <>xfi<i>! road ; but, Mr Siiddon being authorised to employ lab-mi-on I his road, when reqniioJ, nothing was done in his absence.

Pi.ACi! of Mekti.vg.—On the motion of Mr C. M. Brunskill, it was agreed to accept the offer of tho Piako County Council to grant the Board the use of their office for 2s I) 1 each meeting.—Mr Brunskill thought they could perhaps get out of paying the charge. I'HintswATKß Road Again , .—Mr Brun skill said the two bridges that he was authorised to get repaired upon tho Bridgwater road wero chiefly used for sledge traffic, so he had had pnngas put across and a good coating of clay placed upon tho top. .vhicli ho thought would last a considerable tiine.

Accounts.—The following accounts wire passed for payment :—W. Houter and Co, £3 17s ;G. Wnttani, £7 <«; 1 ,, . Seinnien-s £4 .S-; Od ; public account, £4 10s Id. This was all the business.
