R.M. Cour.T. —The monthly R.M. Court was held on Vriday, when judgment was given by Mr Bush in the case Griffiths v. Seddon, heard last Court day. Claim £100 for illegal possession of store and seizure of goods. The verdict was given for £(i 0 and costs, £8 ss. The case arose out of the bankruptcy of John Buchanan. Licknsing Committek. — The annual meeting of the Licensing Committee took place on Vriday, having stood adjourned since the 7th inst., in consequence of being unable to get a quorum. Mr J. 11. Taylor and a Native Assessor have now been appointed, and they, together with Mr Bush and Dr. Ginders, form the committee. All applications for renewels were granted, as followsJ. Taylor, Geyser Hotel, Whakarewarewa; 11. King, Lake House ; J. Mcßae, I'alace Hotel: H. Morrison, Rotorua Hotel. The application of Mr Seddon, for a new license, was refused ; and, as stated by the Chairman, Mr Seddon's own explanation furnished their reason for refusing, which was, that owing to the altered circumstances of the district tiie hotel which he proposed to build, although not so extensive as would have been expected some years ago, still would be sufficient for present requirements; the committee adding that the Hotels already in the district barely made a living, so that anothei one was not required.
