(r.Y TELEfiKAI'II.—I'RESS ASSOCIATION.) OHIUSTCHURCH, Friday. A cowardly assault was made at the Lyttclton gaol by a prisoner named Shine, alias Denis Murphy. Whou taking off his heavy, hobnailed boots he struck [another prisoner (Clias. Howler) over the jaw, breaking it, and inflicting deep wounds. The two men had quarrelled during the day.
