Cambridge East v. West School Boys.
football match was played in the Government paddock, Cambridge, between the tenuis of the Hast and West schools. George Walker captained the Cambridge East team, and George Comer the West. Mr W. G. McCann acted as umpire. The game resulted in an easy victory for the L ist side, who were much too strong for t.heir opponents. In the first spell the Easterns kicked off, and shortly McVeagh passed to Evans, who potted a goal from the field. Next spell the advantage was again on the East side, and Williams by a good run secured a try. Richardson took the kic'", but fai'ed to score. In the third spell Williams again secured a try, and this time Richardson succeeded in putting the ball over the bar. In the fourth spell Walker ran in for the East side boys, and Evans converted the try into a goal. The East boys thus beat the West boys by three goals and a try to nil. In addition the West boys were three times forced down by their antagonists. Miller, Comer and Dillon played well for Cambridge West. The game was played under the new rules.
