S. ANDREW'S, CAMBRIDGE.

Till! managers of the literary evenings held in S. Andrew's school, Cambridge, have adopted a fresh and much-improved method of catering for the public. Instead of getting gentlemen to lecture they have enlisted the ladies in the cause, and the result is an unqualified success, for :m Friday evening the. schoolroom was filled. The programme had been arranged by Mrs Chambers, but, unfortunately, she was prevented from attending by sickness ; however, it was gone through without a hitch, and reflects the highest credit upon her. It was as follows : Song, "A Dream of Peace," Miss Chambers; reading, "On Training," Mr F. W. Coulee; song, "A Freshening Breeze," Mr 11. Wilson ; reading from Mark Twain, Major Wilson ; song, "Stonewall Jackson," Mr O. Gai-laud ; piano duet, the Misses Wilson: reading, "Mrs Caudle's Wedding Day," Mrs Dickenson ; song, "A Warrior lioid," Mr Fletcher; recitation, "The Curfew shall not ring to night," Professor Lin Medo ; duet, piano and violin, " Home, Sweet Home," the Misses Nixon ; charade, Mis Dickenson, Misses Bedlington and Cussen, Messrs Hill. Wilson and Cussen ; song, " Beloved Eye," Mrs Maxwell; humourous story, Rev, W. Evans; recitation, "The Schoolmaster's Guests," Professor Liu Medo ; charade by the company. Everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves, and the financial result must also bo good. The inhabitants of Cambridge are evidently versatile, and requirua change.
