MELBOURNE GRAIN REPORT.
Ooi.iismioi'on, Mort And Co. Kr.roirrs under date Melbourne, f-OLh May : -Operations during the month have been entirely confined to the supply of local and intercolonial requirements, and those being sufficient, to relieve the, market, prices have remained firm at previous quotations, with a slightly hardening tendency lowards the close! Our export trade to the United Kingdom may now bo considered as closed for the season, and the question now to bo .solved is whether sufficient wheat, remains in the colony to supply our own requirement before next harvest. The weather has been all that could be desired by farmers, and the prospects at present of a large harvest are very g00. , , should nothing of a damaging nature occur to destroy present hopes. Wheat has ueon in demand for local manufacture only during the month at from !>s fid to 5s Bd, at which price nil offering has been absorbed.
