On Friday a less number of horses thin usual were sold, but good animals kept their values. An active draught linrsr; realised £18 10s; light harness and ridinß horses, ,t7 to £15 10s ; inferior from 40a upwards; spring carts, £7 and 17 10< ; a light Wiiggon, f-'-J; harness, _.£;>. On Tuesday hides and skins were pitched in larger numbers than usual. Prices wore well maintained. Best ox hides brought from 4.'.d to 5d the lb, or from 2os to oos each • cow hides, to 3}d, or from 12s M to 15s each. Tallow, 10a; bones, -Is M the cwt • butchers' sheepskins, 3s 10d to 4s -Id ; station skins, 3slod to 4s 8d each. At ltemueraon Thursday, dairy cows in full milk or near calving were in demand at full vaiuos. Trices obtained ranged from £4 5s to £7; store cattle dull of sale ; fat cattle, in full number, wcru required, and prices advanced Steers ranged from 16s to ISs ; cows, 12s to 15a the lOOlbs; calves we.ro also in demand, and sold well. Sheep, in usual supply, wore without alteration in price, and pigs, in limited number sold satisfactorily.
Messrs ITcntek and Nolan's Wkkklt lIki'ORT. — Horscfeed, gram, seeds, etc. : Supplies have b*en ample, and the demand steady, witii little alteration in value. Horses : There has been a moderate supply and steady demand for those of an ordinary stamp, Uood draught hoi sea and upstanding light horses would have found ready purchasers. About the usual number were submitted by auction on I'Viday at the Durham Yards. There wasr.teady, all-round competition. There was a marked improvement in the demand for both medium and heavy draught stock. We quote:—Hacks, from t'O "h to £12; light harness horses, from £fi to Kl2 10s; medium draught, from £<i to £1.4 10s. Wool, hides, and skins : Rather largo quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and the competition was brisk throughout. We quote :—Ox hides, 3d to fid per lb ; cow hides, _gd to 3.fd ; calfskins, to 4!,(\ ; sheepskins, & to -Is Id ; pelts, Is Is lid. Cattle: There has been groat vitality in the market. A good many of all descriptions have been brought forward, and found ready purchasers. Dairy cows at their profit at fully the previous week's value, and fat beasts at an advance ot fully 10s per head. There was u pood muster both at Newmarket on iucrfday, and I'ukekoho on Wednesday. Tho competition was good for all descriptions, but there were no noteworthy alterations in tho value of dairy or store stock. Sheep : There was but a moderate muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, the demand was brisk at the previous week's value. Wethers sold at from 12s to 14s fid each • ewe?, 7s 3d to I,'is !)d each ; mixed, from'l2s Mto 14s. Pigs: A good many were yarded, but being rough, prices ruled in favour of the purchaser, ranging from lAd to 3d per lb live weight.
