BaiiADSTUKi'S recciveil (hiring the week here arc as follows :—Four hundred and eighty-three tons of flour from Victoria ati-J South Australia ; seven hundred and eighty tons of Hour and eleven hundred and forty-six' tons of wheat from New Zealand : and twelve hundred tons of wheat from India. The practical use of the new gas light has been successfully demonstrated here. It is understood the light will shortly be introduced in New Zealand, where it is expected it will bo largely used in lighting districts where ordinary gas is not obtainable. The promoters in their prospectus undertake to make the gas at fonrpencc per 1000 feet. Buying for New Zealand is very brisk in consequence of the competition between the two stc.imship lines, which enables foreigners to do business advantageously in the Sydney markets. The Oerinan steamer Lubeek arrived to-day at Sydney from Samoa. The action, Man acuta and Frank Cornwell v. William McArthur and Co., of New Zealand, was concluded at Apia, in the High Commissioners' Court. Judgment was given for plaintiffs for the value of tho produce of the plantations for £41,256 and cos's Security is required by the Court before the defendants will be allowed to appeal.
