TE AROHA.

R.M. Court.—A sitting of this Court was held on Tuesday, More Mr H. W. Northcroft, R M., tin; only case of public interest being the healing of a claim. Hood v. Edgar and Walker for wages (£2S 10s), for woik alleged to have been done in the Lord Xelson licensed holdine-, The plaintiff was represented by Sir William Wasteneys, and deposed he was engaged by Mr Edgar to look after the mine, and to receive os per day as wages. Evidence was taken at considerable length, and one of the witnesses for plaintiff showing that Hood had admilted he had a share in the. mine, and could not therefore claim wastes. Defendants denied the engagement, and judgment was given for them.

Wahdkx's Col'RT.— Epforo Mr Warden Norlhcroft. The following was the business transacted:—Application for four months' protection. Alpha claim, by W. Andrews, granted. Application for resident site at Wainrongoniai, by Henry Sonthey, granted. Application for cancellations of Lord Nelson licensed holding. Messrs Walker and Edgar appeared to show cause, why the mine .should not be forfeited, and in reply to tha Warden, Mr Walker said they had two men on tho ground ; the Warden, Ah ! this is the same as it was a month ago, yon know there's no fencing in the matter, you told me yon were to let a portion of the ground by contract. Mr Walker then handed in a letter from Mr Pond, after reading which, the Warden asked Mr Wilson, Mining Inspector, if he adjourned the case for two months, what he thouttht of it. Mr Wilson thought if Mr Walker kept on two men and further prospected, they might prove the ground valuable. Adjourned for two months. Application cancellation of Monte Christo licensed holding, H. Brett. Mr Wilson staled there was no work being dine, and in the absence of Mr Brett., he did not think any harm conld be done by cancelling the claim.—Forfeited. Application for cancellation of Montezuma special claim. In this application, Mr Wilson said theowners had let a contract to cut a reef which they believed they were within a short distance of, when they would have a quantity of quartz to send to Waiorongomai for treatment which would enable them to put on more men. Adjourned for two months.

FitKDo's Tk©i;ha|)OUHS.—This clever and amusing- company arrived here on Wednesday and gave one of their performance.! at the Public Hall in the evening to a very good house. Some of the songs anil choruses were very pretty, whilst the antics of tho clowns were greatly appieciated by the juveniles. The entertainment which lasted three hours is well worth gang to see. The troupe repeated the programme at Waiorongomai on Thursday evening, and were much appreciated. They appear there again on Saturday and at To Ai'oha on Friday. Tailohixi! KxTKUi'msic—No fewer than three reprsentatives of tailoring establishments, two from Auckland and one from the Thames, have been here during the last few days, and according to each, have done a roaring trade, one of them of Jewish persuasion 'having taken orders to the extent of .t'loO.
