Coxc'l-.lU'.—On Thursday evening, a concert and dance took pi aca at our Public Hall, for the purpose of raising funds toward-' tuning and repairing the org in and c i-se, etc. The Kev. Mr Evans presided, and there was a very good attendance, Tu Aroha being largely repre-eutod, tlm- showing that, they ''are z.'-ilous in g> id work-!." There were several alterations from the printed programm", but 0:1 tin whole the items presented wer-_- gone, through very creditably. Stewar; gave several popular airs on the violin, and accompanied Miss Waiuwright"- in a duet "Coin; Birdie C une,'' by Mi is Hirst, was very sweetly sung, and she received deserved applause. Mr J. MeLiver did his best in the e miie line, and was much applauded, whilst his brother Charles crave, in excellent voice, the song, Siding." A farce entitled " Ebeuezer's fir«t visit to New York.''concluded the programme,after which the hall was cleared for dancing, which was kept up till an early hour. The proceeds of I lie entertainment would amount to about £10, which, under existing circuni-tances, is considered as much as could be look-id for. Mr L ive'l deserves praise for his efforts, and in recognition of this and other similar entertainments originated by him, a soiree will t ike place on Monday evening, prior to his leaving for the Thames.
