Kntkutunmknt. —An untravelled company consisting of eight or nine performers calling themselvis (.ha louru-t Minstrels, and hailing fr.im the Iha-nM (N.Z.) made their debut at our Public Hall on Saturday evening and were greeted with a bumper houso, the hall bring crowded in every part. To say that the vocalists are much above the average, stints them of deserved praise, at the same lime it might be a somewhat risky business for the Tourists to travel far from home. Anyhow they were greatly appreciated here, each item given being heartily applauded, whilst the cunvmahties of the Woodwards provoked great mirth. Mr Stove Catran contributed two soiirs in grand style, viz., "Stars of the Midnight, and'• I'iym.mth 5.MH1.1." Mr A. V..wl«s gave the " Death of Nelson •' in excellent voice, and was loudly applauded. Tie songs given by Messrs Hardman, 1. Wol .«. and Poarce were also well rendered, and the entertainment concluded with a laughable farce. . , I'oons.w.i..— The local team met for practice on Saturday, and during the play young Roberts (butcher) had his am:,e sprained, and bad to be carried home, lie return match with the Paeroa team is to be played at Paeroa on I'riday. Mls'lNC— Notwithstanding the recent rain, there daes not aupear to be any spirit yet at the big works, but it is said that another ten head of stamps, making thirty altogether, will be set going at an early date.
