HAMILTON VOLUNTEER HALL.

A jiKKTiSfi of the trustees of the Hamilton Volunteer Hall was held yesterday at the office of Mr Lewis O'Neill, at Hamilton. Piesent: Lieut-Col. Shepherd, Capt. William Steele, the Mayor of Hamilton (Mr Isaac Coate*), S. Steele, and W. Maccregor Hay. Messrs John Knox and L ;wis O'Neill, the. guarantors of the bank overdraft, were also present. The Mayor was voted to the chair. —Mr Hay moved, " That a statement in detail of the financial conditions bo adopted and forwarded to the (Government, accompanied by a suggestion that the (Government take over the hall on behalf of the volunteers, paying the guarantors £313 7s and the church £7"i, and agreeing to grant, to the Borough of Hamilton an endowment in land of the value of €150 in lieu of the public interest therein. r -Seconded by Capt. Steele and carried.— Capt, Steele proposed that Col. Shepherd, the Mayor, and Mr Hay be a committee to carry (lilt- the objects of the. above resolution! two to be a quorum.—Seconded by S. Stec'e and carried.—Mr Hay proposed that Mr Knox continue the. management of the hall as before until a further resolution of the trustees, all lighting and cleaning fees to be paid beforehand.—Seconded by S. Steele and C'.vried.— I The usual vote to the chair was given, and the meeting terminated.
