Jiurton (as agents for Messrs Marshall, raterson and I'earce), and Mathias (for fcitudliolm and Co.) appeared in sup[)ort of objoclions raised against the value of their several properties. The evidence of the assessor, Mr J. K. McDonald, in most cases proved the excellent character of the land as shown by the grass and crops grown thereon. The objections also in many cases bore out the evidence, but owing to the dilliyulty of roachim* some of the properties for want of loads thought the valuations excessive. One person having large quantities of fl.ix growing upon his property, considered it of little value owing to the diliiculty of getting it to port for want of road communication, having nearly thirty miles to travel before reaching Eiaglan.
