WAIORONGOMAI.
Football.—As already pointed out, the match to take place on Saturday afternoon here, between the Paeroa and a picked team of Te Aroha Waiorongomai men, created great interest, and about 3 o'clock, a large crowd were in waiting in front of Smardon's Hotel to welcome the visitors. About 3.30 they arrived in a four-horse draff, and were heartily cheered. Play commenced at 4 o'clock in Jansen's paddock, and was witnessed by a large numbet of visitors, amongst whom were many of the fair sex. The game during the commencement was well conducted, and resulted in two trios for the local men, but after this, what is known as bnllocking was freely indulged in by both sides, one of the Waiurongoniai men, Jack Clarken, having one of his ribs knocked out of its place. The Paeroa's kicked a gaol, and after an hour and a-half tough play, the Waiorongomai team were declared the victors. In tho ' evening the visitors wero entertained to supper at Mr Smardon's Hotel, and returned to Paeroa on Sunday morning. A match between the Katikati Club and Waiorongomai has been arranged to take place on Saturday, 25th inst., on the same ground,
